Something Borrowed (Lecture Hall)

  • Rachel White: (looking at TORTS book, and then flashback.)
  • Dexter Thaler III: You don't happen to have four extra pens, do you?
  • Rachel White: Oh, I do actually. I brought a bunch.
  • (Rachel looks up and there’s Dex, grinning, she is immediately struck by how handsome he is, then she blushes... a little awestruck).
  • Rachel White: You're making fun of me.
  • Dexter Thaler III: No, I'm impressed. You're making me feel really inadequate right now. (shows his one and only pen)
  • (Professor Dennis Zigman walks into the room.)
  • Professor Dennis Zigman: I'm Professor Dennis Zigman and this is TORTS. A few ground rules, Never introduce a contingency in your answer.
  • (Rachel grabs her notebook from her bag and puts it on the desk, shoving it forward... right into the pens which fall into the crevice between her row and the row in front of her.)
  • Professor Dennis Zigman: A supposed tortfeasor may be argued to have committed a tortious act... when four conditions have been met.
  • (Rachel tries to catch them, to no avail.)
  • Professor Dennis Zigman: Each is necessary. None is, in itself, sufficient. There must be a duty or obligation. This duty must have been breached.
  • Dexter Thaler III: (slides over his only pen.)
  • Professor Dennis Zigman: This breach must have caused damage.
  • Rachel White: (looks at his pen, then whispering) What about you?
  • Professor Dennis Zigman: Duty, breach, causation...
  • Dexter Thaler III: (whispering) That's okay. I'll just listen.
  • Professor Dennis Zigman: ...damage.
  • Rachel White: (looks at Dex.)
  • Dexter Thaler III: (nods)
  • Rachel White: (takes the pen.) Thank you.
  • Professor Dennis Zigman: Duty, breach, causation, damage.
  • Rachel White: (smiles at Dex, then she turns and tries to pay attention to the Professor and not Dex, but it’s hard, so she sneaks another look at Dex)
  • Dexter Thaler III: (then Dex look at her.)

llondonbound:

Something Borrowed. I saw so many reviews saying that they hated this movie, because Dex chose Rachel over Darcy. But I seriously think this is one of my favorite movies now. I love how love conquers all at the end. It gave me butterflies when Rachel and Dex were together, and made me want to one day have a love like theirs. I want someone to hold me like that, I want someone to chose me for myself, and nothing more. I wish my life turns out like this, not the loosing the best friend part, but someone choosing me over someone else. Showing me, how much they care. Sending me flowers, wanting to spend time with me instead of the rest of the world. I can’t wait to find someone like that. Ugh this was just beautiful in every way. But I was completely confused with the Ethan part, I wish he had somewhat of a beautiful ending too. I’m just really glad that Rachel and Dex ended up being together. Both of them conquered their dreams, which was the best part of it. I want this to happen to me someday. <3

And can I just add that the scene depicted above is the cutest scene in the movie. And I just wanted to cry, and cry and cry because I want something like that. And that they both looked adorable together. Ughh this scene gave me butterflies.

I want to be in love like the stupid girls in romantic comedy movies.

Rachel: I shouldn’t Have left.
Dex: No, it’s okay. I understand.
Rachel: No. Six years ago, that night, I shouldn’t have left. It wasn’t okay, what happened. None of it was okay.
Dex: Rachel —
Rachel: No, No, let me say it. Cancel the wedding. Tell her you can’t marry her. I love you. I’ve always loved you. And I should have told you a long time ago, but I’m telling you now. Before it’s too late. Before it’s really too late. You’re not the only one who hasn’t been living his life. I haven’t either but I want to live it now, and I want to live it with you.
Dex: I can’t, Rachel. I’m so sorry. I can’t.
